Last week was a fantastic turnout for society member Nick Carpenter’s presentation on Grant Higgins! Grant grew up in Stockbridge, singing in church before branching out to songwriting and playing in local bands, such as the Rimrods and Catalinas, before moving on to a successful career in the music industry where he worked with legends like Wild Bill Emerson. Had he not left school early to pursue what would be a successful career in the music industry, Grant would have been a part of the Stockbridge High School graduating class of 1962.
Joining us for the night were Grant’s brothers, Joe and Paul, who shared a few of their memories as well. Finally, in addition to the presentation, the Society was gifted with the donation of a book written by Grant’s nephew, Weldon Higgins, as well as a CD of his music.
